And lilacs provide an enchanting and accompanying scent.
Two of my favorite birds

And a black-capped chickadee.

Violets are on the march.
When I was a boy, I transplanted violets to our yard. I babied them and worried about their survival. I need not have worried. They are thriving.
A flock filled with red-winged blackbirds and common grackles.
Photos taken by Bryce Gaudian of Hayward, Minnesota at his farm.
A robin is supposed to have three snows on its tail before it is truly spring.
But first, a common grackle flashes some color.
The tail of this robin has been putting in overtime.
The fox sparrow.
In charge of the henhouse.
A birdie with the yellow bill of spring.
It was almost spring.
A great horned owl nest cam
It's odd that I've never run into a birder named Atticus.
It's nice to be on a wall other than at the post office.
Hurrah! A member of my family is on a TV show other than "Cops."

New Ulm Fights Back for Big Win Over Sleepy Eye
Haines, Alaska
Tire chains.
When windshield wipers surrender.
Northwestern crow.
Gas prices can be high.
Northwestern crows waiting for a flight out of town.
In this Juneau establishment, life is a bagel.
A hedgehog gall.
Photo by Randy Chirpich of Fairmont.
It's a hedgehog gall that shows up on the leaves of white oaks. It's cosmetic, not lethal. Inside the gall, a tiny wasp is developing.
A pop from the past.
Seen at a Cracker Barrel restaurant.
It's good to be home.
My spider senses tingled.
Sadly, a dead humpback whale floated ashore in the Outerbanks of North Carolina.
I tried to get closer, but the smell repelled me.
